One of the most well-known characters of the Marvel Universe is the Incredible Hulk. Among the comic books, there have been numerous movies and television shows based on the Marvel superhero over the past 50 years. For those who don't know, the Hulk is a green monster who has the power of incredible strength. In reality, the Hulk is the alter ego of Dr. Bruce Banner, who had the ability to turn into the Hulk after he was exposed to a large amount of gamma radiation.

The Incredible Hulk starred in his own series during the 1960s and was one of the founding members of The Avengers, alongside Iron Man and Thor. He was only a member of The Avengers for a few issues because due to his anger issues it was becoming more common that he was an enemy of the Avengers rather than an ally. There was a television series in the 1960s that starred Bill Bixby as Dr. Bruce Banner and Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk.

There have been two Incredible Hulk movies in the past 10 years that starred the big, green monster. The first film featured Eric Bana as Bruce Banner, while the second film completely disregarded the first film and starred Edward Norton as Bruce Banner. Both of the films did not receive great reviews from critics and as a result they were not as successful as many thought they would be.

Currently, the Hulk is making a comeback with the latest Avengers movies. His comics are becoming more popular and he is receiving more popularity due to this reemergence in The Avengers. Among the regular storyline, there have been alternate stories, such as World War Hulk and the Red Hulk, both which have proven to be very interesting to fans of the original Hulk series.

The supporting characters of the Hulk include his nemesis throughout the series, Thunderbolt Ross, who tries to capture The Hulk throughout the series. Ironically, Bruce Banner's love interest is Betty Ross, Thunderbolt's daughter.

The Hulk is an amazing comic book series that I think many readers will enjoy regardless of their preference of superheros. If you like Marvel Comics, you will enjoy the Incredible Hulk.

    Marvel or DC Comics

Recently, a near perfect edition of The Incredible Hulk #1 was sold and is considered to be one of the most expensive and hard-to-find comic books of all time. It was sold at auction for $125,475. The director of comic operations at Heritage Auctions, Barry Sandoval, said that the auction proves that the comic book market is still going strong.

The Hulk comic books series was Marvel's second series during the Silver Age of comic, preceded by the Fantastic Four and followed by Spider-Man and Thor, all of which were very popular during the time. The Incredible Hulk wasn't a smash hit right when it came out, but instead lagged a little before catching some steam and becoming extremely popular. Unlike Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, the green giant comic was cancelled after just six issues, probably why the first edition copies are so hard to get ahold of. The few copies that did survive were in mostly poor condition and were very noticeable due to the dark blue background, which showcased any imperfection.

The very expensive copy of the first edition Hulk that did sell was rated a near perfect, 9.2. At the same time there was a Human Torch comic that was graded even higher, a 9.4 that sold for $92,612. Another comic book edition, the Green Lantern #22, was one of the highest graded copies every sold at $59,750, triple the amount of what he paid for it at $18,000. It wasn't just comic books that sold for that much, an original Peanuts comic strip artwork sold for $53,775.

This just goes to show that comic books are still a collector's item that can sell for thousands of dollars, if not more with time. They will become more and more valuable as time goes on and if you are lucky to own any comics (or know someone who does), there is a good chance that you have a pile of money sitting covered in dust just sitting in your attic.
